Somber mood triumphed in Mwamgongo Village in Northern Tanzania after a troop of monkeys snatched a one month old baby from his breastfeeding mother. The village border the known Gombe National park. The infant was receiving his daily milk from the mother unfortunately, the troop of monkeys snatched him off from his mother.
In response the woman screamed for help and the villagers rushed to aid her.
The villagers tried to be quick enough in helping her but the troop of monkeys had already done too far. “She screamed for help and villagers rushed to her house to assist her in getting her child…back from the troop of monkeys,” Kigoma Regional Police Commander James Manyama told The Citizen on Monday.
The villagers then tried to use force to get the baby back but the monkeys resisted. They then forced the baby out of the monkeys hands and he was injured. Commander Manyama said that the baby was injured o the head at the time of rescue he villagers then took him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed before reaching the intended hospital.
