The August 9 general election is nearing, top presidential candidates are on the ride to popularize themselves. The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Hon Raila Amolo Odinga was to hold a rally in Nairobi. Consequently the incumbent deputy president DR William Ruto also revealed that he was planning to have a rally in the city too. This caused a rift between the two as they al argued that they had booked Jacaranda Ground to conduct the rally.
Anti-riot police have been deployed to the Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi to block any attempts by Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza factions to hold rallies at the venue. In a letter provided by ODM affiliate Hon Babu Owiono, the Azimio team had booked the venue on 15 June ahead of todays rally. However, the police cancelled the rally due to dole booking. The rally could not take place since the crowd started to cause some rift. The comotion between the Azimio and KKA supporters made the police to cancel the two rallies.
“I booked the venue myself and got the clearance to host the rally from the authorities. Babu Owino wrote the letter to book the event after learning we had booked it to seek unnecessary attention. We have already set up the tent and everything for the venue,” he said. Babu owino expressed his confidence to have owned the venue for their rally.
on the other hand, Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga said that she was responsible for the booking of the venue. She said that she had o idea of any other booking except for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance rally. Omanga said that the confusion was brought by the relevant authority since she was confident that the venue belonged to KKA today.
